The 3-day tour from Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara Desert is one of the most captivating journeys you can experience in Morocco. From the lively streets of Marrakech, passing through the majestic Atlas Mountains, the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, breathtaking gorges, and the golden dunes of Merzouga, to the imperial city of Fes, each stop on this trip is an immersion into Morocco’s culture, history, and natural beauty.
Early morning departure from Marrakech, aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, heading south. We will cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, with spectacular views of Berber villages and mountainous landscapes.
Stop at the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah
During the day, we will make a stop to visit the incredible Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of Moroccan mud-brick architecture. Here, you will have free time to explore the site and take memorable photos.
Ouarzazate and the Rose Valley
After lunch in Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco,” we will continue towards Skoura and the Rose Valley, famous for growing flowers and producing natural cosmetics. Arrival in Boumalne Dades in the late afternoon and overnight in a traditional riad with dinner included.
After breakfast, we will begin the day with a visit to the striking Dades Gorges, spectacular canyons carved into the rock. Next, we will head to the Todra Gorges, a paradise for hikers and photographers, with walls up to 300 meters high.
Arrival in Merzouga and Camel Trekking
In the afternoon, we will reach Merzouga, the gateway to the vast sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here begins the most exciting part of the tour: a camel ride at sunset across the dunes, heading towards the desert camp.
Night Under the Stars in a Berber Camp
The evening will be spent in an authentic Berber camp in the desert, where you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, listening to music around the fire. The starry sky of the Sahara will provide a breathtaking spectacle.
Wake-up at dawn to witness the sunrise over the dunes: a magical and intimate moment. After breakfast in the camp, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 and depart towards Fes.
Cedar Forest and Ifrane: The Morocco You Don’t Expect
Along the way, we will cross the Middle Atlas, passing through Errachidia, Midelt, and the Azrou cedar forest, home to the famous Barbary apes. A stop is planned in Ifrane, nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its European architecture and mountainous landscapes.
Arrival in Fes in the Late Afternoon
We will arrive in Fes in the late afternoon, concluding a journey that has shown you the most authentic, varied, and fascinating face of Morocco.
The 3-day tour from Marrakech to Fes is not just a transfer between two imperial cities: it’s an exciting path through the sands of the Sahara, lush valleys, timeless kasbahs, and eternal mountains. Each stop will be an unforgettable memory, each glance an experience.
